The Oakland Noodle Factory, Oakland, CA

The Oakland Noodle Factory is an  affordable housing development sponsored by the non-profit Northern California Land Trust.  This project features 11 “Work-Live” Units, a Café, and Performance and Rehearsal Spaces that are available to local arts communities.

Although bounded on 2 sides by zero lot lines and neighboring properties, light is brought in through a variety of sources, including clerestory windows, that give the units a dynamic spatial quality and good natural light.

The project also features photovoltaic panels, hot water solar panels, radiant heating, FSC certified wood, low formaldehyde and formaldehyde free wood products, and non-toxic paints, sealers, and adhesives.  The project is expected to achieve LEED Silver rating.
